Flip (Flop) SLIDE

Last summer, I had a near-consistent argument with a couple of my girlfriends over the style merits of the Adidas pool slide trend. I was all for it—as I love any trend that forgoes heels and embraces comfort (hello, slip-on kicks). My friends maintained that the flat, wide sandals (and their fashion-forward cousins from Zara, Koovs, H&M  and more) are decidedly not feminine and definitely not sexy. But with another summer season ongoing, the trend shows no sign of slowing. The “ugly-chic” pool slide trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The look—we’re talking plastic slip-ons first made popular by Adidas—re-entered the scene in a major way a few seasons ago. (You probably remember wearing them in high school—I sure do). And while they’ve undoubtedly been around since then, it seems they’re hitting the fashion scene in full force right this minute.
After spotting street style superstars like Gigi and Bella Hadid out and about in the slides, its my time to give this trend a try!! Plus, hey—if the It girls are doing it, why not me, right? And believe it or not, it’s not just celebs wearing pool slides out in real life. Fashion A-listers and editors have also stepped out in the sandals over the last few weeks—further proving that this is the must-have shoe silhouette of the moment.

How To Rock It
The pool slider is practical and unpretentious, and all over the high street this season. If you're a hipster or a street style star, you might wear yours with a pair of socks, but the rest of us will probably wear them with a pair of straight-leg cropped jeans (with a frayed hem, naturally) or with a midi-length dress to add a relaxed, youthful edge. They're an easy way of making every summer outfit look more pared-down, although they do have an annoying habit of slipping off your foot at the smallest provocation.

It’s Fun Because
These Slides are available in various different Material From Plastic to Leather to Infamous Rihanna Puma Fur Slides. But the Fun Styles & colours available is what i love about this trend fromPom Pom , Fur , Fun Emoji Patches to Holographic Straps to Pearls n Crystal Detailing to more recent tie up bow slides.

Listen: I am not denying that this is kind of a silly trend, and one that will likely cause me to look back at the inevitable view-from-above Instagrams with pangs of regret in like 2 years. However, I love how they look now paired with everything from swingy mini-dresses to slouchy trousers or cutoff denim shorts. I certainly won't look as lovely or feminine as my girlfriends who will no doubt be sporting a strappy sandal or a bit of a heel when the temps finally rise—but hot damn I'll be comfortable.
