When you are buying handbags do you give it the same scrutiny as when you buying clothes. We never stop and think before buying a bag that does this bag suit me or my body types...if a handbag is cute or fits your lifestyle then it works. But did you know that a handbag can flatter your shape almost as much as the right types of clothes.
Many women are unsure of which types of handbags work best with the shape of their bodies and end up choosing styles which make them look large or out of proportion.

In order to help you choose the right type of handbag for your body type I’m doing a series called BAGSUTRA in which over few post I will be covering a list of body types as well as which kind of handbag is best suited for each type.

Try to choose a shape that is the opposite of your body type. If you are tall and thin, look for a slouchy, rounded hobo bag to compliment your figure. If you're short and voluptous, play off opposites by choosing a handbag that is tall and rectangular or long and sleek (like a clutch).
In general, the rounder your figure, the more structured your bag should be. That doesn't mean that you have to carry a hard box around to counterbalance your womanly shape rectangular or square silhouettes in soft leathers or fabrics will do the trick.

A shoulder bag's length (where the bottom of the bag hits your body) will accentuate whatever part of the body it comes near. For example, a shoulder bag that ends around the hips will play up your hip width (the eye is drawn to the bag).
Most women look great with a bag that hits mid-torso because it flatters the waist.

Below is a list of few popular bag types for bag-illiterate ppl like me:
 Hobo bag - A crescent-shaped shoulder bag.
Tote- An open-tag bag with straps or handles.

Tote - An open-top bag with straps or handles
Duffle - Tall shoulderbag, often with a wider opening on top

Field bag - A flap-top shoulderbag with utility-type closure (buckles, snaps, etc).

Clutch - A small, handheld bag or a larger, geometric shape that is tucked under the arm.

Satchel- A large, handheld bag.

Baguette - Long and rounded shoulder bag resembling the namesake bread.

Messenger - A large, soft shoulder bag with long straps (often worn across the body).

Kelly bag - A classic Hermes style named after Grace Kelly; a large, structured handbag with distinctive hardware closures.

The type of handbag you choose will not only depend on your body type, but also on the outfit you’re wearing and what you are doing. Choose your handbags according to how you feel that day and what you think looks best on you. One handbag is never enough, so make sure you have a number to choose from. You wouldn’t wear the same pair of shoes every day, so why carry the same handbag?

I used to have one bag in every shape but, nowadays I prefer big hobos or totes in which I can dump all my belongings.
